The Advancing Liberty fundraising initiative is part of the Liberty Region’s five-year strategic plan and our expression of Young Life’s FORWARD campaign. Your awareness of and contribution to Young Life’s mission in the Liberty Region makes you an insider, and this newsletter helps to keep you informed.
Prayer is Young Life’s First Work
Each month we highlight one of our campaign subcommittees, to reveal its purpose and explain how you can engage in our growth and improvement initiatives. This month we feature the Prayer Subcommittee.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (Philippians 4:6)
Last Fall, we participated in a FORWARD campaign leadership summit. In his opening remarks, Young Life President Newt Crenshaw described how prayer is Young Life’s first work. “We have a covenant to pray for one another in Young Life, at all levels”, he explained. “This helps us see each other through God’s eyes.” That’s our vision for our Prayer Subcommittee – that prayer is the driving force throughout the campaign; the beginning and end of all we do. We are assembling a team representing the entire Liberty Region and we will continue to share specific prayer requests regularly through this newsletter. Please pray God reveals to each of us our role in prayer for this campaign, as well as someone to lead us in this area. Email us if you’d like to get involved.
Building a Strong Foundation
Last month, we asked for prayers for our proposal to the Harold C. Smith Foundation. Our submission proposed to fund a student staff program as a pipeline to full-time mission staff. By God’s grace, the Foundation has heartily endorsed our proposal and, pending final board approval, will provide us a six-figure grant over the next two years. We pray this is a catalyst for other foundation engagements we’re pursuing.
Donating to the Campaign
The Advancing Liberty campaign is designed to fund growth as part of a strategic plan for the Liberty region. We offer three important considerations to ensure your giving objectives are accurately fulfilled.
Consider any gift to the campaign as incremental to your current YL giving. Eventually, the campaign will funnel funding back to all areas in our region.
Be sure to designate your donation to the AG415 account, which is set up specifically to receive campaign gifts for the region.
We sometimes refer to this as a capital campaign, but YL reserves capital designations for camp construction. When giving online, in order to avoid misappropriation of your gift, choose operating as the donation type.
By remembering these three simple steps, you can guarantee your much-needed gifts reach their intended destination.
Our first work is praying that we reach more kids in the Liberty Region through Young Life. Thank you for your continued commitment to it.
